The IST program is offered in the Â鶹ֱ²¥ format through the The IST program is a one-of-a-kind offering in the state of Wisconsin, designed by the faculty and staff of the UW-Milwaukee SOIS, and is known for its innovation and leadership in education. The Â鶹ֱ²¥ IST degree provides a more flexible approach to delivering the educational experience to students, while relying on the strength of the SOIS IST program, which has been offered in the classroom and online since 2003.
Through the IST program, students are immersed in gaining experience and knowledge in information science, architecture, organization, storage and retrieval, as well as Internet applications. Students enter a program that is tuned into the private and public sectors, with faculty communicating with industry leaders to understand the needs and expectations of future employees – a program that looks to place students into the industry to grow their experience and knowledge as they work on their degree. The program encourages an entrepreneurial and innovative atmosphere for students, and gives them experience working with research and methods, database design, and systems analysis.
